Stories for inspired places.

Sarabi is a Kenya-based visual storytelling and content partnership. We work with lodges, camps, and hospitality properties across Kenya and East Africa, returning through the year to photograph and film them as they really are: the light, the food, the people, the wildlife, and all the moments in between that make the place. The result is a steady stream of fresh, social media-optimized content that keeps a property’s online presence as current as the place itself.

Who We Are

We’re Nathan and Mahala Mixon, a Kenya-based couple working in photography, storytelling, and digital content. After years of traveling and working with lodges and camps across East Africa, we kept noticing that properties are often more beautiful in person than their online presence suggests. So we started Sarabi to help close that gap, working with a small number of properties, photographing and filming the way guests actually experience them.

Nathan is a Nairobi-based wildlife photographer, birder, and writer, and the one most likely to be found up before sunrise with a long lens. He’s drawn to the landscape and the wild side of a place. He also manages all of Sarabi’s operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and in a timely fashion.

Mahala is a content creator with an established online presence and a natural eye for the details guests remember: the interiors, the food, the textures, and the small touches that make a place feel considered and like a new home. Her years of building an audience mean she knows what actually works on social media, not just what looks good in a photo.

Together, we bring a mix of wildlife and landscape photography and a design and social-media sensibility. We work behind the camera, we’re based in East Africa, and we care about telling a place’s story well.
